Looking for a published soil map or book? Many of our published soil maps and books are also available as JPG/PDF scans. Scanned books cost the same as the hard copy (without the P&P cost). The cost of scanned versions of the maps vary depending on the scale and area covered, please contact us for a price.
You can search for available publications and maps using our Online Catalogue. When you identify the map and/or book of interest, please contact landis@cranfield.ac.uk so we can check if a scanned version is available. Thank you for your support.
Cranfield Environment Centre (CEC), incorporates the National Soil Resources Institute (NSRI) at Cranfield University, and the earlier Soil Survey and Land Research Centre (SSLRC) and, as a result, maintains all the published and unpublished paper soil reports and maps for England and Wales. CEC market a wide range of paper maps, books, technical reports and articles associated with soil and land-use management.
Publications may be purchased by completing our Order Form and returning it to the address below. For information on application forms, licences and terms and conditions, please consult the documentation listed below.
The location of our maps are provided below. Select the desired scales from the selection below to see the location of each set of maps available. Alternatively you can view the locations of our maps in a GIS tool, or Google Earth by downloading the appropriate files listed beneath the map viewer below.

LandIS, or the Land Information System is one of the offerings of the Cranfield Environment Centre (CEC). Incorporating the National Soil Resources Institute, we are the largest UK national and international centre for research and development, consultancy and training in soils and their interaction with the atmosphere, land use, geology and water resources.
